Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Well, Melanie and I are wide awake and it's just after 3:30 in the morning here. We had a long day of navigating our way around Bangkok, made more interesting by the language barrier. We know how to say 'hello' and 'thank you' quite well, but unfortunately, neither of those are any help in giving directions to our hotel! One driver tried to talk us into a fixed price ride, but I heeded the multiple warnings I received about that, and we got out of that cab! But with the help of some very nice people along the way, including a pleasant cab driver with loads of tips, we made it to our hotel where we were able to freshen up a bit. We headed back out to purchase overnight train tickets to Chiang Mai, which is where we're headed this evening. After securing our spot on the train, we headed back to the hotel, where we all passed out way too early. Shana and Dana just made it known that they are up too, so this should make for another interesting day of slap-happy travel :)
Here's the view from our hotel room as a storm rolls in.
